KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Ana Bocanegra-Valle, Associate Professor, University of Cádiz, Spain
Ana Bocanegra-Valle is Associate Professor at the University of Cádiz (Spain) where she teaches Maritime English at graduate and postgraduate levels. Her main research interests include Maritime English, ESP/EAP pedagogy and discourse, and English for research publication purposes. She has been the Editor-in-chief of the LSP journal Ibérica, Head of the U of Cádiz Press, and is at present Book Review Editor for ESP Today, and Spanish Journal of Applied Linguistics. She is currently involved in a national R&D+i project, and her book Ethnographies of Academic Writing. Theory, Methods, and Interpretation (co-edited, John Benjamins, 2021) received an international research award in 2023.
Heath Rose, Professor of Applied Linguistics, University of Oxford, UK
Heath Rose is Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. He is the coordinator of the English Medium Instruction Research Group and runs the wider EMI Oxford Research Network. Heath’s research interests are situated within the field of language teaching and language learning. His research interest is EMI outcomes, particularly exploring the effects of English support in EMI, and the language needs of students learning in EMI settings. He has published books on Global Englishes, research methods, and data collection. He is series co-editor of Cambridge Elements in Language Teaching.
Brian Willems, Associate Professor, University of Split, Croatia
Brian Willems is associate professor of literature at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split (FFST), where he is also director of the Studia Mediterranea center. He is the author of six academic books, most recently Anger and Change in Korean American Literature (forthcoming 2025). He is co-editor, with Slavoj Žižek and Nicol Barria-Asenjo, of Global Manifestos for the 21st Century (2024), with Aleksandar Mijatović of Reconsidering (Post-)Yugoslav Time (2022), and of two anthologies for his department. He is on the editorial boards of The Journal of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split (Scopus), Cross-Cultural Studies Review, LOOK Editions (of the FFST and Multimedia Cultural Center Split), and Disobedience Press (of the University of Michigan Press).
Plenary talks will be given in English.

We welcome talks, workshops and posters that present theoretical and practical insights into the field of LSP including research studies, case reports, project presentations, reports on teaching methods, commentaries and opinions.

- GENERAL ASPECTS OF LSP: genre analysis, discourse analysis, corpus analysis, needs analysis
- TERMINOLOGICAL CHALLENGES: theoretical aspects of terminology as a discipline, terminological theories and their application, terminology and lexicology, terminography and lexicography, psycholinguistics and terminology acquisition, cognitive aspects of LSP teaching, conceptualization and lexicalization in LSP teaching and learning, acquisition of LSP terminology, translation in LSP
- CHALLENGES IN TEACHING METHODOLOGY: LSP teaching in tertiary education, distance teaching/learning, digital technologies in LSP teaching, project-based learning in LSP communicative approach to LSP teaching, multimodal approach to LSP teaching, teaching LSP to students with visual impairment; deaf and hard-of-hearing students; students with dyslexia and dysgraphia, content and language integrated learning (CLIL)
- SYLLABUS AND LEARNING MATERIALS: materials development, materials evaluation, syllabus design, adapting syllabi and learning materials to distance learning

Languages (abstracts, podium presentations and paper presentations): Croatian, English, German, Italian or French.
Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
Workshops will be allocated 45 minutes.
GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION (FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS, WORKSHOPS, AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS)
Proofread abstracts need to contain 250 – 300 words and have to be written in the same language the presentation is planned to be delivered. A list of references is not mandatory.
Keywords: five words or terms listed in alphabetical order, separated by commas.

POSTER GUIDELINES
Title and content
The title should be identical to the title of the submitted abstract.
The poster should include an abstract, keywords, presentation of the research methodology and results, and a conclusion.
The text should be proofread.
Contact information
Indicate the names of all contributing authors and their affiliations.
Size and orientation
The poster size should be B1 (707 mm x 1000 mm).
The poster should be portrait-oriented.
Design
Use adequate letter type and font size to ensure good readability. Well-designed figures, graphs and tables will enhance the readability and impact of your poster.
THE BOOK OF ABSTRACTS
After the anonymous review process, the accepted abstracts will be published in the book of abstracts, which will be available on the Association’s website.
PUBLICATION OF CONFERENCE PAPERS
The selected peer-reviewed papers will be published in the open-access Conference Proceedings which will be posted after the conference on the official Association’s website.

Cancellation policy
A 50% refund may be granted if cancellation is submitted before 1 February 2025. No refunds are available for requests submitted after this date. Refund requests will be processed after the conference and can be submitted to: lsp.teachers.conference@gmail.com.

By plane:
Split Airport is the main international gateway to the region. It offers flights from major European cities and seasonal connections from other destinations. It is located 19 kilometres from Split, in Kaštela.
The airport shuttle bus runs regularly to the city centre and the main bus station. The timetable is available here: https://plesoprijevoz.hr/en/split-croatia/ One-way ticket is €8.00.
Close to Split Airport there is a bus stop of lines No. 37 (Split – Trogir; Trogir – Split), No. 38 (Split Airport – Kastel Stari – Split; Split – Kastel Stari – Split Airport) and No.2 (Split Airport – Kastel Sucurac – Split; Split – Kastel Sucurac– Split Airport). Taxis are available outside the terminal, providing a direct and convenient, though more expensive, option. Beware of unlicensed taxis offering their services.
Several car rental companies operate at the airport if you prefer to drive yourself. However, bear in mind that parking is limited and there is no reserved parking at the conference venue.
