THE 6TH UNJSVU INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

The Association of LSP Teachers at Higher Education Institutions organized its 6th international conference titled CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES IN LSP TEACHING. The conference, which was held from February 23 to 25, 2023 at the Faculty of of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of J.J. Strossmayer in Osijek, gathered more than one hundred participants from ten countries including  LSP teachers from all parts of Croatia and from almost all institutions of tertiary education.

LSP teachers held a series of talks, two workshops, and presented posters, giving theoretical and practical insights into various topics in the field of language for specific purposes.

The talks presented examples from practice, research studies, case reports, project presentations, reports on teaching methods, commentaries, and opinions.  Sections were divided by topic and language of presentation (English,German, French and Croatian).

Plenary presentations were given by Associate Professor Vesna Bagarić Medve, University of Osijek, and PhD student Bojan Prosenjak, on evaluating discourse competence in a foreign language; Pilar Mur-Dueñas, University of Zaragoza, on emerging and evolving digitally-mediated discursive practices as a challenge for LSP training, and by Boris Jokić on internationalization in the Croatian Higher Education ( ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go …or maybe, Should I Come? –

 

The Book of Abstracts has been published on the UNJSVU website, and the Conference Proceedings are also being prepared.
