The Conference Contemporary Challenges in LSP Teaching, organised by the Croatian Association of LSP Teachers at Higher Education Institutions was held on June 1-2, 2021 on line. The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb. The organising committee comprised Brankica Bošnjak Terzić, PhD, Snježana Kereković, PhD and Jasminka Pernjek. The conference was attended by more than 130 participants from different countries: Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Great Britain, Italy, France, Austria, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Qatar.
Three plenary lectures were given by exceptional language experts, two of them from Croatia, Olinka Breka, PhD, from the Chair of Technical Foreign Languages of FSB, University of Zagreb, and Darija Omrčen, PhD, from the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, and Hilary Nesi, PhD from Coventry University in the UK. At the conference, 84 speakers gave their lectures and presentations. The conference covered various topics in the field of specialized languages, namely the general aspects of LSP, terminological challenges, challenges in teaching methods, syllabus and learning materials development, assessment and evaluation, English as a lingua franca, professional development of LSP teachers and LSP and its socio-cultural context.
